Coronado Wedding at Centennial Park

The COVID-19 pandemic has made it quite challenging for couples wanting to have a Coronado wedding in 2020.  It’s been a rollercoaster of uncertainty, to say the least!  When Robert & Lynette booked with me, their plan was to have a larger Coronado wedding with all of their family and friends there to celebrate with them.  But unfortunately, thanks to COVID, they had to scale down their guest list and have an intimate wedding with just their immediate family at Centennial Park in Coronado, California. But that’s okay because even though things didn’t go as originally planned, the couple was surrounded by the people that love them the most which made it every bit as special.

Enjoy these photos from their special day!

Getting Ready at the Glorietta Bay Inn, Coronado

The couple got ready and did their first look at the Glorietta Bay Inn in Coronado.  I was excited to shoot here as it’s a charming classic hotel with lots of great options for photos.  It really seemed to suit the couple’s style. The rooms are spacious and there’s great light which is so important for getting ready photos. There is a grand staircase in the front entryway which was an obvious choice for their first look. There’s also a formal parlor room which made a great location for bride and groom portraits afterward. Overall, it was a fantastic location to get ready in style for your Coronado wedding!

Details

The bride looked like a timeless beauty in her classic-style wedding dress.  From the shoes to her jewelry and perfume bottle, there were many elegant details. I also loved the bold and rich colors of the bouquet!  It’s my favorite type to photograph as they add a great pop of color and vibrance to the images.  It’s no wonder I posted so many pictures of it on the blog!

I thought it was especially touching that the bride had photos of her late grandmothers in her room as she was getting ready.  It made her feel like they were there by her side, sharing in this joyous occasion.  What a powerful reminder of how a cherished photograph allows us to hold onto the essence of our loved ones, bringing them close to our hearts, both on special days and every day.

First Look

In some hotels, you are lucky if you have one nice spot for the first look but at the Glorietta Bay Inn, there were several of them.  While it may seem like the main staircase was the obvious choice, it was actually a tough decision.

Coronado Wedding Ceremony

Well, it just so happens the couple loves spending time in Coronado.  It’s where the groom popped the question and where they had their engagement session.  So it was fitting that they had their ceremony there.  Every time they look at their wedding photos, they’ll have fond memories of their favorite place and a breathtaking view of the San Diego skyline in the background.  This is the kind of scenery that postcards are made of!  They lucked out with the light too.  It was perfect!
