Enchanting Moments: Why an Alcazar Garden Wedding in Balboa Park is Pure Magic

Couple posing in wedding attire for morning elopement at Alcazar Garden Balboa ParkTucked away in the heart of Balboa Park, the Alcazar Garden was the perfect spot for this couple’s intimate morning wedding. With just close family in attendance, the ceremony felt extra special and personal. The garden, inspired by the beautiful royal gardens of Seville, Spain, is a hidden gem known for its peaceful vibe, boxwood hedges and ever-changing floral
displays.

Capturing the Beauty of an Alcazar Garden Wedding in Balboa Park

One of the unique features of an Alcazar Garden wedding is the stunning view of the iconic California Tower rising above the trees. On this particular day, the colorful dahlias were in full bloom, adding a touch of magic to the morning. Though the morning light was already a bit harsh, the shaded pergola in the garden provided the perfect relief, creating a more balanced and flattering light. This made the Alcazar Garden wedding experience even more enchanting, as the couple exchanged vows surrounded by natural beauty.

After the ceremony, we ventured out of the garden to explore more of Balboa Park for wedding photos. The park is one of my absolute favorite places to shoot because there’s so much variety in the scenery. Whether it’s the historic architecture, the lush gardens, or the charming pathways, there’s always a new angle or backdrop to discover.

We made sure to visit some of my favorite spots like the iconic Organ Pavilion and the bougainvillea covered archways of the Plaza de Panama.  This variety allowed us to capture a wide range of photos, from the intimate and serene moments in the Alcazar Garden to the vibrant and dynamic shots around the park. If you’re considering an Alcazar Garden wedding or elopement, you really can’t go wrong—this place has it all, making it the perfect spot to document such a special day.
