Bali High Restaurant

Bali Hai, located on Shelter Island has a tropical vibe with breathtaking views of the San Diego Bay and downtown skyline.  Known for its delectable Polynesian cuisine and irresistible Mai-tais, choosing this venue based on its wedding buffet alone is a no-brainer.

One of the perks here is that your ceremony and reception are in close proximity for maximum convenience. But what truly sets this place apart is its very own dock. Envision this: arriving and departing in your own boat if you’re a boating enthusiast. Now, that’s what I call a grand exit! And don’t forget the cozy firepit where your guests can gather and soak in the warm ambiance.

Marina Village

This venue offers not one, but two captivating outdoor ceremony sites, both overlooking the picturesque marina. Inside, you’ll discover a variety of unique banquet rooms, each with its distinct charm—crystal chandeliers and vaulted ceilings add an elegant touch. What makes this venue stand out is the freedom it grants you once you’ve booked an event space. It’s a blank canvas, where you can make all your Pinterest dreams come true! Flexibility is key here—they welcome your choice of linens, alcohol selection, and outside vendors while providing essentials like the ceremony arch, tables, and chairs.

But what I adore most about this place is that despite its affordability, it offers million-dollar views of the marina, especially during sunset—a priceless backdrop for your celebration. Plus, the party can continue until midnight, ensuring that your special day goes on without a hitch. And to make things even better, there’s ample parking for your guests’ convenience.  If that’s not reason enough to love this exceptional venue, check out my blog post on the 5 Reasons Why Brides Love Marina Village. Garden Wedding Venue

The Thursday Club

This venue offers the best of both worlds which is one reason why I love it so much.  While technically classified as a garden venue, what truly captivated me was the essence of an ocean venue without the sand!

Tucked away in the serene residential neighborhood of Pt. Loma, The Thursday Club is actually a banquet hall that exudes historical charm, with its lofty ceilings, antique chandeliers, and rich wood floors. Guests will delight in the intimate garden and balcony, perfect for savoring ocean views or enjoying a sunset during cocktail hour.

In my humble opinion, the ideal time to exchange vows here is in March when the garden bursts to life with vibrant spring flowers. There’s an abundance of free parking, and if you’re feeling adventurous, the iconic Sunset Cliffs are just minutes away, offering a stunning backdrop for epic bride and groom portraits. And, by the way, you don’t have to limit your “I Dos” to Thursday—it’s your day, after all!

Step into a world of sophistication as you explore this exquisite venue adorned with sophisticated furnishings and timeless design elements influenced by the owner’s worldly travels.

One of the remarkable features of the Darlington House is its innate beauty, requiring minimal decoration or florals. Grand Tradition Estate and Gardens

Fallbrook’s best-kept secret. From the moment you set foot on the grounds, you’ll be captivated by its charm. It’s a peaceful and private oasis, offering a variety of enchanting settings for your special day. You can opt for the elegant mansion with its crystal chandeliers, opulent furnishings, and manicured lawns. Every time I think of it, I imagine Mary Poppins and Burt taking a leisurely stroll along the heart-shaped lake—a true fairytale setting. Alternatively, there’s the secluded arbor terrace, a tropical paradise adorned with lush greenery, luxurious gardens, and majestic waterfalls.

With 37 years of experience in hosting weddings, Grand Tradition has truly mastered the art. And, let’s be honest, besides the countless opportunities for breathtaking wedding photos on the grounds, my absolute favorite thing about this venue is the delectable prime rib buffet. Not to mention, the staff is incredibly accommodating, ensuring your day is as perfect as you’ve always envisioned.

Green Gables Estate

When it comes to wedding venues, this place is simply extraordinary. It is a photographer’s dream, where every corner offers a magical setting for capturing beautiful moments. You’ll notice it bears an ambiance reminiscent of Twin Oaks Estate featuring ivy-colored arbors, a charming rose garden and enchanting twinkle lights.  That’s no coincidence- it’s the sister venue, with the added advantage of accommodating larger guest lists.  And so, if you’re in pursuit of a romantic and enchanting atmosphere, complete with an eclectic blend of rustic and French country furnishings, deciding between these two venues may prove to be a delightful dilemma.

But here’s the icing on the wedding cake:  both venues offer an exceptional perk that sets them apart.  A generous time allocation of 10.5 hrs for your special day, far surpassing the typical 7 hrs provided by most venues.  The extended timeframe allows you to savor every precious moment.  Whether it’s indulging in the exquisite bridal parlor or enjoying the groom’s vintage speakeasy before the ceremony, your wedding experience at Green Gables Estate will be absolutely exceptional.

San Diego Air & Space Museum

Located in Balboa Park, San Diego Air & Space Museum is hands down one of my all-time favorites for photographing weddings. I affectionately refer to it as the “giant softbox” because of that enormous atrium that covers the area where all the festivities happen. It bathes everything in a lovely, soft light, and the venue itself is wonderfully unique. During cocktail hour, your guests can explore the museum or channel their inner Maverick while riding flight simulators.  If you’re into space and aviation or if you’ve got a friendly competition going with your pals to find the most distinctive wedding venue, this could very well earn you the top prize.
