San Diego waterfront wedding photos were an important part of this couple’s courthouse wedding, and some of the best harbor views are just steps from the County Administration Center. Their intimate celebration had a classic, elegant feel, from the bride’s long-sleeve gown and dramatic veil to their outdoor ceremony surrounded by family and friends.

Wedding Portraits at the San Diego County Administration Center
After the ceremony and family photos, we spent some time taking portraits around the County Administration Center before heading to the waterfront. The building and surrounding grounds offer a mix of architecture, greenery, palm trees, and views toward San Diego Bay, so couples can get quite a bit of variety without leaving the property.
For courthouse weddings, I usually recommend taking family and group photos here before moving on to another portrait location. That way, guests don’t need to travel with us, and we can use the remaining photography time to focus on portraits of the newlyweds.

San Diego Waterfront Wedding Photos
One of the great things about getting married at the San Diego County Administration Center is how close it is to the waterfront. After finishing their portraits around the courthouse, we walked toward the harbor for a completely different backdrop without having to drive to another location.
The San Diego waterfront offers plenty of variety for wedding portraits, with the bay, marina, downtown views, and historic ships all within walking distance. For this wedding, we photographed around the harbor as the afternoon light began to soften, including portraits near the Star of India.
Within a relatively small area, we were able to incorporate the bay, ships, marina, and changing afternoon light into their portraits, giving this part of their gallery a distinctly San Diego feel.

Best Time for San Diego Waterfront Wedding Photos
Timing can make a big difference when planning portraits along the waterfront. The area is very open with limited shade, so later in the afternoon generally gives us more flattering light and more flexibility for portraits.
If San Diego waterfront wedding photos are important to you, it’s worth considering the time of your courthouse appointment when planning your photography coverage. An appointment later in the day can put us closer to softer afternoon light by the time we reach the harbor.
