Radiant Sun Kissed Bliss – Sunset Cliffs Engagement Photos | San Diego Wedding Photographer
Living in San Diego it’s common for couples to want Sunset Cliffs engagement photos. With its breathtaking views of the cliffs and the Pacific Ocean, it’s a must-see photo spot for anyone visiting San Diego. It’s gorgeous any time of the year and one of the most scenic places to watch a California sunset. In fact, it’s so popular for couples that on any particular day you might even catch a glimpse of an elopement or surprise proposal.
For this session, we lucked out with a low tide which means we were free to go down the staircase and explore the beach area. This gave us lots more photo options as it can be a little crowded sometimes at the top of the stairs. Fair warning though! You’ll have to do some navigating on slippery rocks. Luckily my clients were adventurous and didn’t mind. Anything for the photo! Right?!
Once we navigated the rocky terrain and found an ideal spot, I gave this couple some quick posing tips before we began our session. Like most couples, they were worried that they would be awkward in front of my camera. But that wasn’t the case at all! It didn’t take them long to relax and let their love shine through. They were like naturals and rocked their session! They were so cute and easy-going too!
I had such a great time photographing them that I didn’t even want to stop. Although I must admit, that’s often the case at most of my photo sessions. LOL!
Practical Tips for Your Sunset Cliffs Engagement Photos
If you’re considering Sunset Cliffs engagement photos, you’ll want to consider the time of day for your photoshoot to capture the best lighting conditions. Sunset or golden hour typically provides the most flattering light for photos. Also, I recommend checking the tide schedule first. Look for a day that’s low or negative tide around sunset.
If there’s any way possible, you’ll want to plan it on a weekday. Sunset Cliffs gets rather crowded on weekends and during peak seasons.
For walking on the slippery rocks, bring some shoes with good traction. If they’re not the kind of shoes you’d want to be photographed in, you can always carry an extra pair with you in a backpack. This way you can be hands-free while climbing the rocks, that is with the exception of holding hands with your beloved.
Lastly, don’t forget to relax and have fun during your session. The natural beauty of Sunset Cliffs combined with your love and excitement will shine through in your photos.
